The Professional Lawyer of the Year Award for the Burlington County Bar Association (BCBA) is awarded to a member attorney who exemplifies strong character, legal competence, and exemplary professional behavior. The 2016 recipient, Jeff Apell of Posternock Apell, PC, P.C., epitomizes these attributes.
An active member of the Bar, Jeff has been practicing since 1992. He currently focuses his practice on estate planning, estate litigation, and guardianship representation, with additional work in real estate and estate administration. He also is a Mediator, handling all types of legal matters for the Court and private parties. Jeff is admitted to serve in New Jersey, as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal District Court of New Jersey, and the United States Supreme Court.
Jeff’s numerous volunteer activities support both our profession and our community. Jeff is currently an active member of both the New Jersey and Burlington County Bar Associations, as well as a former member of the NJBA Board of Consultors of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee. He was appointed earlier this year to the NJ Supreme Court Committee on Attorney Advertising and is past Chair and Vice-Chair of the District IIIB Ethics Committee. He also serves as a member and lecturer for the Burlington County Office of Aging and is a member of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), an agency of Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.
Jeff has been requested to speak on many legal topics over the years, serving as a speaker for the Burlington County Office on Aging, the Burlington County Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Foundation Speaker’s Bureau, and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJ-ICLE), among other groups.
Jeff is a lifelong South Jersey resident. He is a graduate of Moorestown High School and majored in Government and Law, with a minor in Ancient Languages at Lafayette College before attending Widener University School of Law. He joined Apell & Detrick, P.C. in 1992 after having served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Victor Friedman, J.S.C. (ret.). He has been serving clients in Browns Mills and throughout the area ever since. When he isn’t practicing law, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer Apell, Esq., and their three boys in and around their home in Cherry Hill.
All County Bar award recipients will be honored at the Annual Professional Awards Luncheon. This year, the luncheon will be held on November 3, 2016, 12 pm at The Imperia, Somerset.
